About the Artist
I was born in sunny Puerto Rico, where my summers were spent building sand castles and bathing in the Caribbean Ocean. My mother taught me to sew at an early age and I would sneak into her sewing room to gaze at the old fashion magazines to sketch and dream. This would eventually transform my art.
Some of my fondest memories are visiting my uncles and grandparents, who had a business near a stationery store that sold Hello Kitty and Lisa Frank stationery. My sister and I would spend hours picking the cutest little stickers and pencils for our collection.
My friends and I had a notebook we collectively owned and pass around filled with stickers, drawings and childhood poems that we cherished. We moved to Lancaster, PA., when I was 12 and it changed my world. The contrast of tropical life to snowy seasons and farm life up-close was a doozy! It intensified my love for paper and fabric led me to study commercial art and sewing at a young age, and later studying graphic design at Parsons in NYC.
Wanting my work to have a meaning, I studied web design and search engine optimization hoping to help business owners launch their businesses, blogs and newsletters. I even created letterpress design, typography. and stationery from my design work. The experience I gained has helped me consult my clients as well as grow my own design business.
After taking a little break from web design in 2008, I dedicated design work to creating fashion illustrations, namely boutique scenes, characters and accessory illustrations. This effort paid off as it allowed me to work with Christian Dior, New York & Company as well as many small businesses who wanted to work with me not only for my illustrations, but to be their featured illustrator in corporate events.
I currently live in Lancaster, Pennsylvania with my fabulous husband, 3 kids and 3 dogs and a cat.
