My only hope is that I am this alert and functional when I am 102. There is a common believe in the artist community, that your best work is done when you are young. I disagree. I think your most uninhibited work is done when you are young. Remaining uninhibited is the challenge.
I think, it is partially a matter of confidence. Too much and you think every squiggle needs copyrighted. Too little and your work has no value. Finding that sweet spot requires time and willingness to look foolish, i.e. make mistakes.
In an era when every move is public, making a mistake can be uncomfortable and even costly to one`s reputation. When you are able to rectify your mistake and create something worth while, the world`s already watching. You might as well go out with a bang.
