I have always wanted to create one of those pictures that looks like someone wrote with light on the background. I know it`s old as time and there are a million Photoshop brushes that will do it for you, but I really wanted to try it with my camera.

How I did it
Using my Nikon D5200, shooting it manual, I set my F-stop at 11, ISO at 100 and the shutter at 2.5 with the WB at florescent. I also used a tripod because I have super shaky hands. You need a little tiny light pointer or flash light and a really patient assistant. The f-stop is so small the light around you will not affect the shot. And voila!!
These final ones had to be composed together by using several different shots and using blending modes on Linear Dodge in Photoshop CS6. The Bokeh effect was a brush combination (link here and here), using Gaussian blur at 3 different blur sizes, 30px, 15-19px and 4px, each deviation on its on layer. Make sure you set your foreground color swatch to white and the background swatch in a purple like the one shown on your light writing picture. Then using blending mode Color Dodge, it gave it a more monochromatic tone.
